Luton Music Service works with a large number of parent in Luton. Whether your child has instrumental lessons in school or comes to our Music Centre we hope you can find the information you require here. If you have any further question please email us.

Information for Music Centre Parents

Concert details

Saturday Music Centre concerts
– Queen Elizabeth School, Crawley Green Road, Luton, LU2 9AG

The first concert starts at 10:15 and will last approximately one hour. The concert will include the following ensembles:

Mini Music, Beginner Guitar, Bassoony Tunes, Junior Percussion, Beginner Bass, Training Strings and Junior Funk

Students for the first concert should arrive for rehearsals at 09:00

The second concert starts at 12:00 and will last approximately one hour. The concert will include the following ensembles:

Intermediate Guitar, Senior Strings, Rock B, Brass Band and Woodwind Ensemble

Students for the second concert should arrive for rehearsals at 11:00.

Parents will not be allowed into the theatre during rehearsals.

If this is your child’s first concert, please be aware that the structure of the concert days is very different and there will be some waiting around. Could you possibly send them with a snack, a drink and something to read?

Evening Music Centre concerts – with selected Saturday Music Centre ensembles


For all evening concerts:

Please send your child with a snack and a drink (not fizzy), if you wish, and please remind them that they must only consume them in the designated areas.

Please ensure that your child takes a music stand.

Students must not leave site once they have arrived for the concert.

Tuesday 19 March – Queen Elizabeth School, Crawley Green Road, Luton, LU2 9AG

Luton Youth Concert Band, Concert Band Seniors, Luton Youth Show Choir & Rock A

Arrival times: Rock A to arrive from 4.00pm. Any help with setting up between 4.00 and 4.45pm would be appreciated. Concert Band Seniors 5.10pm. Full Concert Band 5.35pm. Show Choir 6.00pm.

Concert starts at 7.00pm.

Wednesday 20 March – Queen Elizabeth School, Crawley Green Road, Luton, LU2 9AG

Luton Youth Orchestra, Training Orchestra, Luton Youth Percussion Orchestra, Funk Band & Chamber Strings

Arrival times: Percussion Orchestra 4.30pm, Youth Orchestra & Training Orchestra 4.45pm, Chamber Strings 5.10pm & Funk Band 5.35pm.

Concert starts at 7.00pm.


Concert Dress

All ensembles playing on Saturday 23 March: white shirt; black skirt/trousers; flat, black shoes; black socks.

Saturday ensembles that are performing in the evening concerts: black shirt; black trousers; flat, black shoes; black socks.

Concert Programmes

We no longer print programmes for concerts, in order to help us meet sustainability aims and objectives. We will supply QR codes, which you will be able to scan to access the concert running orders. We will also print large concert running orders for you to photograph, if the QR codes do not work for you.


Permission Slips

You are not required to complete a permission slip for any of this term’s concerts. We will be assuming that all students will be taking part in the concert/s unless they let their ensemble tutor know otherwise.

Summer Term Restart Dates – Please make a note in your diary

Saturday Music Centre restarts on 20 April 2024.

Evening Music Centre rehearsals restart week commencing 22 April 2024.

For concerts, pupils should wear concert dress, which is: black trousers/skirt, black shoes and socks/tights, plain white shirt/blouse, and optional bow tie for boys.


In case of fire

Leave your instrument and follow the staff member in charge to the nearest exit. The fire assembly point is at the side of the school (see map).

If you know that you are unable to make rehearsals on a particular week, please let your tutor know in advance. This helps greatly in planning rehearsals.

If you are unable to attend a concert, please let your tutor know as soon as possible! It may mean that parts have to be swapped and ensembles re-arranged, so the earlier we know the better – thank you.
